Ewen Bramble, Amir Farid, Lachlan Bramble

The Benaud Trio is one of Australia’s finest young ensembles. Formed in early 2005, pianist Amir Farid, violinist Lachlan Bramble, and cellist Ewen Bramble have established themselves as formidable performers of the major repertoire, works by Australian composers and music with a pop/jazz influence. The Benaud Trio were winners of the Piano Trio prize at the 2005 Australian Chamber Music Competition and completed a residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts in July 2006. The Benaud Trio are well known to Adelaide audiences having performed recitals in the Lunchtimes at Elder Hall series, at Ngeringa Farm and for the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra’s Tea and Symphony series to great acclaim.

Gypsy Fire

Haydn and Brahms were both captivated by the wild and furious music of the gypsies. The driving rhythm, carefee improvisation and visceral energy of the gypsy style inspired both the works in this program. The Benaud Trio will be joined by guest violist Merewyn Bramble for this special presentation.
