A Ramble on Love
THURSDAY 21 JULY, 7.30PM
Elder Hall, North Terrace, Adelaide
2011 marks the 50th Anniversary of the death of Australian-born composer-pianist Percy Grainger. The Addison/Smart Duo (John Addison, cello, and Gabriella Smart, piano) together with guest Mark Carroll (Grainger historian and commentator) have devised a concert-presentation celebrating the close friendship and collaboration of Grainger and Edvard Grieg. To Grainger, Grieg epitomised the Nordic worldview he so admired, and Grieg for his part virtually worshipped the strapping 24-year-old young Australian. “I love him almost as if he were a young woman” he once wrote.
Presented by Art & Heritage Collections and Elder Hall, the University of Adelaide.

Great Music in Great Spaces
30 OCTOBER TO 4 NOVEMBER
Soundstream collaborates with the Australian Institute of Architects in a series highlighting the parallel creative processes of architecture and music. See Adelaide’s architecture from a new perspective, as we visit buildings within the Adelaide city square mile over a glass of wine. A discussion by the architect or designer of the building will be followed by a music performance that highlights the acoustic qualities of the space.
The series will take place during Architecture Week, 30 October to 4 November.
