A feast of languages

SUNDAY 22 APRIL, 2.30PM
ELDER HALL, NORTH TERRACE, ADELAIDE

The first program in Tinalley’s three concert series for 2012 ‘A feast of languages’ celebrates language, discourse and humanity. JS Bach’s unfinished Art of Fugue and Haydn’s Quartet in f minor, Opus 20 sets the stage for Tinalley’s finest conversation hour! Witness the quartet sharing ideas, voicing new thoughts, provoking, murmuring, reflecting… and yet not a word is spoken! Shostakovich’s concise 7th quartet, dedicated to the memory of his first wife, is an epitaph of loneliness, scaling the emotional heights of rage, fear, isolation and tender reminiscence. The program closes with Beethoven’s Razumovsky Quartet Opus 59, No. 2. Symphonic in breadth, the work showcases Tinalley’s tonal riches and exuberant playing style.

Adult $48 / Concession $38
